The Cedar River Soccer Association Academy Program is designed for children ages
9-10 under the direction and supervision of our Professional Coaching Staff.
The program focuses on developing fundamental ball skills and introduces players to
competitive soccer in a fun and nurturing environment.
Team Placement: There are no tryouts at this age level and no effort is made to create "Premier" teams.
All interested children are required to attend Academy Night (during Tryout Week) to practice with our pro coaches and learn more about CRSA. All children will be placed on teams.

Training: Academy teams train August through October in the fall and March through May in the spring. Generally, teams practice twice per week under the guidance of their Professional Coach. Winter training is scheduled approximately once a week.
Where: Training for the Academy teams will be held primarily at the
CRSA Soccer Compex during Fall and Spring. The complex has 3 full sized, lighted soccer fields. There is ample hard surface parking and restrooms at the facility. During winter times the club will train at the CRSA Indoor Facility.

Coaching: The Professional Coaching Staff oversees and develops the young soccer players ages 9-10. CRSA is fortunate to have the largest professional coaching staff in Eastern Iowa. All CRSA coaches have completed the licensing requirements of the United States Soccer Federation or other national soccer organizations.
See coaching staff page HERE.
Leagues and Tournaments: Academy teams play in age and skill appropriate leagues and tournaments.
In addition to local games, Academy teams typically play in 2-3 tournaments each season in the Cedar Rapids and Iowa City area.
Academy Program Philosophy: The focus of the CRSA Academy Program is helping children develop their fundamental skills and making sure kids have fun playing soccer. While CRSA Academy teams tend to be competitive, the emphasis at these age groups is not on "winning".
There are no "Select or Premier" teams at this level and all children that wish to participate with CRSA will be placed on a team.
The success of this philosophy can be measured by the accomplishments of the older age CRSA teams.
